Dayton is known as one of the greatest party schools in Ohio, but there is much more to do here than drink. With competition for admission increasing every year, the school’s prestige is on the rise. Dayton is one of the largest Catholic schools in the United States, and has a rich religious heritage in the Marian tradition. Situated in Southwest Ohio, the city of Dayton has a truly Midwestern, all-American feel to it, and has one of the happiest student bodies of any school in America. As the birthplace of aviation, Dayton is still an innovative city that, despite recent economic troubles, has continued to redefine itself as the local economy shifts from manufacturing to service-oriented business. The University of Dayton is one of the bright spots in the city’s future. Perhaps one of the University’s best attributes is its size: at around 7,000 undergrads, this college is big enough not to give you déjà vu of high school, but small enough that you won’t feel like a number. If you are looking for an ideal setting to get a quality education, surrounded by nice people and administrators that treat you as an individual, then UD is for you. Our college review of the University of Dayton is as raw and uncensored as any other guide on RealCollegeTour.com! Written by a senior who knows all the ins and outs of the school, you’re guaranteed the most thorough review of University of Dayton, or you’ll get a full refund!
Here are some excerpts from our raw & uncensored college review of the University of Dayton:
“UD likes high test scores, solid GPA’s, and well rounded students. Participation in clubs, part time jobs, academic or honors societies, and sports are always a plus.”
“Dayton takes the Common App; take your time on the essay and try to tell them ______________.”
“Because of its pure isolation and still generally crappy living conditions, ______ fosters an amazing sense of community, to the envy of the other dorm residents.”
“However, sophomores with too many write ups for student conduct violations dread being are stuck here for a 2nd freshman experience.”
“Another exclusively freshman dorm. Truly the armpit of UD, it looks like it is straight out of the 1940’s. The rooms are oppressively small (like Stuart) and decorated with green floors and white wood cabinets. There is no space to live, but unlike Stuart, there is less sense of community to make up for this fault.”
“The Eastern edge of UD is bordered by an impressive old graveyard where the Wright Brothers are buried. The southern edge of campus is bordered by Oakwood. This is THE most wealthy suburb of Dayton. Think gated communities, national schools of excellence, and expensive organic supermarkets. The western edge is flanked by Brown Street, where most of the restaurants and bars are located. The city of Dayton is one of the fastest declining cities in America according to Forbes.”
“For example, _______ tends to be thought of as the “slut” sorority, and UD lore says that a few drinks is all it takes to bring home one of these fake baked hoes.”
“Considering UD students are the 7th happiest in the nation, we do have a party scene. Unlike other schools, UD has the “ghetto”.”
“…pre-game in your dorm with a few friends, maybe play some card games, maybe rip the sliding door off your closet, prop it up on chairs and play a few games of beer pong….then head to the ghetto.”
“UD officials will try to tell you this isn’t true and that…..”
“Freshman generally get trashed and dress like hookers to go here on Thursday where they are packed in like sardines and don’t have that much fun anyway. “
“Getting a boyfriend or girlfriend is extremely rare and not something on people’s agendas.”
“____is the main place where students go to meet someone, which can be fun…”
“It’s important to know that people are very receptive to new people in the beginning of the year and no other time. So it’s important to meet as many people as you can right away.”
“However, she is the only person I have known to hate UD. She claims the students are all very homogenous. ”
“The clothing style here is just rolled out of bed. You may love it or hate it. Specially, the style is leggings, no pants and a V neck shirt.”
“Christmas on Campus is when inner city kids come spend a day with a UD student with activities involved. Most people love it.”
“Walking up Stuart hill (the biggest hill on campus where a freshman dorm is) and ordering Cousin Vinny’s is a weekly tradition.”
